IRECO’s business essentially consists of the collection, transport, storage (and final disposal) of special hazardous and non-hazardous waste, for recovery and/or disposal in special centres designed for this purpose.
The company’s core business is the treatment service for waste from electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE), which it collects throughout Sardinia, both on behalf of municipalities and private companies.
The Preliminary Waste Disposal Facility was born from the following needs
- to offer a support service for waste disposal in landfills, not only for facilities in the region, but also for facilities across the sea;
- broaden competencies in the environmental sector, for waste destined for recovery or in any case not disposable in landfills;
- optimise the costs of waste disposal for small producers, as the costs of chemical analyses required by law have a considerable impact on the disposal of small quantities;
- manage, in a streamlined manner, the considerable quantities of waste resulting from reclamation activities, related to orders already acquired by members.
SERVICES
Currently, IRECO’s authorisation no. 08 of 25.11.2011, issued by the Province of Medio Campidano, provides for the storage of waste on a suitably sealed usable surface area, for a maximum quantity of 80 tonnes instant.
Special hazardous and non-hazardous waste from, among others, the following activities are allowed in IRECO’s storage centre:
- waste from agricultural and agro-industrial activities;
- waste from demolition, construction, and excavation activities;
- waste from industrial processing;
- waste from craft processing;
- waste from commercial activities;
- waste from service activities;
- waste from the remediation of polluted sites;
- waste from the demolition of materials containing asbestos.
